See Yourself in Print
and/or the Web!

Attention all Happy Hatters, we want photos of your Red Hat events!

In our Fall 2010issue, we are honoring our very senior (age 90 and over) Red Hatters. Please send in photos, stories, poems, jokes, and anything else fun, to be printed in our next magazine. Deadline for submissions is: uly 15th, 2010. See the detailed instructions below.

We love your stories! While our space for Red Hot Gossip Stories in our print version of Miss Kitty's Journal is limited, our webspace is not. We will endevor to put every story that we can into our magazine, but even though not every story submitted will make it into print, it can still be seen here on our website. Check out our new Red Hot Gossip section here.

1910 Brownie Camera AdA.  PICTURE

From a Film Camera:  If you have a scanner and are familiar with using it, please scan your picture/s at a 300 dpi, and if at all possible, save them as a .tiff file. Alternately, a high quality jpeg file will be accepted. If you do not have a scanner, you may send your submissions by US mail (please read the instructions carefully for mailed photos) to the below address. Photos sent to us become the property of Miss Kitty's Journal and will not be returned.

From Digital Camera:  If you are going to be taking a digital picture, please be sure that your camera is set on the largest size and that the camera is not less than a 3 mega pixels. If at all possible, turn the time and date stamp off, if. If you cannot do this, send what you have and we will see if we can work with it. If you already have the digital picture, please send it as an attachment, not embedded in an e-mail and not in a word document. We need the original. Also do not try to adjust any settings, including trying to remove red eye or improve on the color or focus.

If you send us a print rather than a digital file, have your photos printed by a photo developing service, such as the ones you find at local discount stores or even many grocery stores. We rarely are able to use photos printed on a home ink jet printer, the quality is just not good enough for printing in a publication. Finally, clearly label the back of every printed photo with your name, chapter name, and the names of the people in the photo.

B.  COPY FOR YOUR STORY

Please send the words for your story in a word document file to the below email address. Be sure to only send a paragraph. Red Hatters like to look at pictures, not words. Handwritten stories need to be clearly printed, so we do not make a mistake in how something is spelled, especially people’s names. Please don't forget to send in your contact information to include your name, address, email, and phone number.

Be sure to put your State and Chapter name in your document. Our magazine now goes to subscribers around the world. Do not forget to add your name, e-mail address, and phone number so we can reach you if we have any questions.

C.  WILL OUR STORY BE PUBLISHED?

We have limited space so a preference is given to stories that are unusual, entertaining, or show how Red Hatter’s like to have fun and/or serve their community. We appreciate good, clear, and in focus, pictures, and this will go a long way to enhance the chances of your story being published.

Submissions become the property of Miss Kitty's Journal and will not be returned, unless you provide a suitable, stamped, self addressed shipping package. We reserve the right to use your submitted photo/s in whatever manner we see fit, whether it be in print in the magazine itself, or on the web, or for promoting the magazine, such as in brochures, fliers, etc.

Finally, it is important to understand that because of our limited space, we generally cannot use more than one story per chapter per year. Because Red Hatters are such great women and are involved in so many fun and worthwhile activities, we often receive more stories than we can publish, so while we cannot guarantee that every story submitted will be used, we do try to use as many as possible. Do not despair, if your story does not appear in one issue, perhaps it will here on our website or in a future issue of our magazine.

Thanks so much for your submission. All in Red Hat Fun!
